My name is Lauren Lamar Lauric and I have been married to my husband Dave Lauric for seven years and together my husband and I have six beautiful children.
Together, we also have 10 grandchildren. Yes, you heard that right! I am a proud Nana and yes I am only 32 years old! Our children range in age between 26 years old to our youngest who is almost 5 years old. My love for photography came after the birth of my first daughter in 2012. I wanted to capture all the little moments worth freezing in time, because let me tell you they go by way too fast. I can’t believe all my kids will be in school next year already. I feel like it was just last year I had my first.
With the encouragement from my husband, I entered into the photography program at Mount San Jacinto Community College where I graduated with my Associates in Photography in the spring of 2017. On my way to becoming a teacher that passion grew and last year after creating my portfolio I launched my photography business Lauren Lauric Photography. I took this class to continue my learning. One thing I have alway wanted to do was create a blog so the excitement is real because I need all the help I can get! Though our first assignment being a self portrait was not my favorite moment.
As a photographer you would think that I love the camera in all ways and on both ends but being on the other end of a camera fills me with anxiety. So for my project I decided on do a series in my studio of how I was feeling though out the project. The first image completely covered as not wanting to step in front of the camera. To hiding just a little but not directly looking. Then a more frontal but still hidden with the shadows on one side to finally being brave enough to face the camera more up close facing the primary light with even last night make-up still smudged on my face. In this series I used two source lights and an almost blacked out room. At first I was going to do a silhouette but then decided on this series once I took the image of my hands. I cranked up my Einstein light with an 86 in PLM as my primary source without a flash and then a cheap Amazon kit light as my secondary light source both angles about at 15 and 45 degrees. I was about 3 ft away from a grey wall and the camera was about another 3-4 ft from the subject, myself.
